Knowing the halo games in order of its chronological release date

Halo 3 (2007)

Halo Wars (2009)

Going by the halo games in order of release date, the next release was Halo wars. One thing that we need to note is that it happened just two years after Halo 3. The gap, from the last release, was reducing in this case.

It was in February in the year 2009 the franchise thought to adopt a new direction with a game of one installment. It happened with the release of Halo Wars.

This game completely changed genres. This time it was a real-time strategy game in place of the first-person shooter.

The original release happened for the Xbox 360. Afterward, release happened for both the Xbox One as well as Microsoft Windows in the name of Halo Wars: Definitive Edition. The story of this game took place around two decades before the original Halo. It covers some of the initial encounters humanity face against the Covenant.

Halo 3: ODST (2009)

The year 2009 remained eventful for Halo as Halo Wars was not the solo franchise installment to happen in the same year. 2009 also witnessed the release of Halo 3: ODST.

Well, it was a comeback to the FPS roots for the Halo series. Still, it was not focussing on the Master Chief character. It was following the five ‘orbital drop shock troopers’.

This game release first happened out for the Xbox 360. Well, it was before Master Chief Collection that made it available for Xbox One consoles as well as Windows computers. 

Many enjoyed this game of the franchise but also noted that it appeared just like a bit of money-grab attitude by Microsoft.

Halo: Reach (2010)

2010 remained the last year that witnessed the last Halo game, which is Bungie-developed. In 2010, the partnership ended with Microsoft and diverted attention towards its eventual Destiny franchise.

Well, the Halo Reach launched as a prequel of the first Halo trilogy, which was an FPS, but the character of Master Chief was missing. The multiplayer side of the game managed to establish a good connection with the franchise fans. It happened not only for the high quality but also because it was Bungie’s last association with Halo.

The Reach multiplayer retained to use for the Halo I Anniversary re-release. Some of the dedicated fans of this franchise believed Reach to be the last original Halo game. The reason behind this belief is that Bungie cut all involvement with later installments.

Halo 4 (2012)

For 343 Industries, Halo 4 was its first franchise installment. It was released first for the Xbox 360, followed by Xbox One and then Windows for the Master Chief Collection.

Planning was there to start with a new trilogy story containing three games. Well, this game got some fans. The fans here were the players of earlier Halo games, but unfortunately, they experienced a hard time recognizing this game and found not at par with the previous installments.

Release of Halo four sequel  was for Xbox One. There was a gap of 3 years. The single-player campaign is considering good for Halo 4. Well, it failed to match it back with the level of quality in regards to Bungie installments.

The split-screen feature removed and, that what upset the fans. It affected those players who loved playing Halo for years with their friends like this.

Several improvements and inclusions making for the multiplayer side to maintain the spark in the current gaming. The impact of the Halo series on other shooters faded away long.

Well, this is the sequel of the first RTS Halo game. It continued with the same storyline for the Xbox One consoles as well as Windows PCs.

In the year 2017, it game released. With this, the solo campaign end started. Inclusion of the RTS storyline initiated into the Reclaimer trilogy of Halo 4 and 5.
